Hi! how is the week going! I just wanted to make some updates on the project:
First I want to make a honorable mention to instagram, who keeps f** me in the ass. I’ve had a lot of trouble since started, I don’t know why they keep blocking the account thinking I’m using bots because the speed the followers come, (I barely know how to use instagram and I don’t really care that much to spend time doing that kind of stuff) BUT now they terminated the account with almost 6k followers because god knows why, and I’m trying to get it back (hope it works out)
Anyway hahahaha, on the important things: I’m planning on releasing the 0.3 version in the following days, maybe not in Sunday as I want to polish some things, but maybe Monday or Tuesday… desert blocks are coming!
Sandstone and its variations are coming, with andesite and its variations, fixes on smooth stone and a few things more!
I decided to make all the polished and smooth blocks with the same tile style, for you to be able to make awesome floors with color and material variations without loosing the consistency… and it looks very good I think! Also, on the desert part, i’ve been changing some things to make end stone fit with the colors and style of the sandstone, to be able to create awesome builds with desert themes. End stone is a really cool brick-type block and fits veeery good with the desert theme (but don’t worry, there are just minor changes, endstone remains vanilla-like and keeps its primal style in the End)
I have made advances on diorite too, the interior texture of the logs and Birch log (this are really technically difficult, as im using a procedural workflow) so i dont think they would make it to the 0.3 version, but they will come soon
and that’s it:) now, another topic I wanted to mention!
I want to be (and i’m being) transparent with everything, specially with the patreon stuff. You guys are basically giving me the opportunity to work full time on this project that started just as a funny way to make some renders to my portfolio, and transformed into a very cool project that i love, i enjoy making and i’m putting all my heart and effort on (and i will keep doing in the future, no doubts about it). I’ve received a email that you guys should have received too, form Patreon, talking about them increasing the taxes on the tiers for some patrons from different parts of US. This affect every single project on patreon, but not every patron. Is a small increase, around 20 and 50 cents for the 5 pledge (to get the idea) but still i wanted to tell you. Patreon said they will send this info to everybody, but just in case i want to put it here, so i’m going to paste the email i received for you to be informed!
I repeat, this only affects some patrons from some parts of US and some countries, is a small part of the patron base but still important to mention
Dear creator, We hope this note finds you safe and healthy during these unprecedented times. We’re writing to give you a heads up that we’re being required by law to start applying sales tax/VAT/GST to some pledges from patrons in parts of the US and 17 other countries starting July 1st. We know that taxes are stressful regardless of the circumstance, but right now is extra tough timing. We’re letting you know now, far in advance of this change taking effect, to give you plenty of time to feel informed, and to notify your patrons directly if you wish. Patreon will also notify all impacted Patrons on June 1st.
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- We estimate that less than half of all patrons will have sales tax added to their pledge, and for most of them, the amount will be relatively small. For example, sales tax rates in the US range from 4% to 11%, so on a $5 pledge, that would be between 20 cents and 55 cents.
- Whether or not a patron will be taxed depends on where they live (not where you are located), what benefits you offer, and what’s taxable in the patron’s location. Tax rates and laws about what is taxable vary from place to place.
- Patreon will automatically detect what’s in your tiers based on keywords, and apply the right tax rate for each patron’s location, so you don’t need to take any action and sales tax will be handled.
- However, for creators who want to dig into the details and optimize, we are launching some advanced tax settings later this month that will allow you to do so. You will be able to override Patreon’s default settings and potentially save your patrons some taxes.
I will be digging on the tax settings when they update that, to see if i can do something to avoid this but is not still implemented so I don’t know but just to let you know that if I can change that, I will a
And that’s it! I’m going to upload a post with pics on the new desert stuff:)
keep safe everyone and have a good weekend!!
